Día de Muertos Surf Festival — with a parasurf division
Sayulita's Day of the Dead festival runs a national and international surf contest, and this year it adds a parasurf division: judges, timed heats and a number on the jersey.
Details
Sayulita celebrates its Day of the Dead festival with a national and international surf contest. This year the programme adds a parasurf division — a real competition, with judges, timed heats and a number on the jersey, not an exhibition.
Athletes from Fundación Surfeando Sonrisas are travelling in to compete: Antuan, who came to the foundation's clinics to learn and now teaches the beginners; Andrea, 10, from Huatulco; Flor, also from Huatulco; Darién from Vallarta; and Daniel from Cancún, who thought the ocean was not for him.
Competition runs on the Saturday. On the Sunday the foundation opens a free clinic on the same beach.
